The shy member of a family that didn’t shy away from much, he found his expression in words and pictures and performing. In his first year of college, he purchased a Nikkormat camera from a mega-sized camera store in New York City only to get home and discover they had given him the wrong camera: he now owned a Nikon, at its lesser’s price. It was fate. The camera opened worlds for him from which he never returned.

LEGENDARY PALACE.
I went here with REACH!, a group on campus. We were taking care of high school seniors for Cal Day, and we took them to Legendary Palace for dinner. It was a seven course meal! Holy moly. We had soup, fried eggrolls, mushroom/chicken/celery, roast duck, General Tso’s chicken, tofu/shittake mushroom/bok choy, and fried rice for dinner. I think it’s supposed to be pretty pricey, but lucky for us UC Berkeley picked up the tab. It’s because REACH! is also known as Asian/Pacific Islander Recruitment Center. We focused on minority groups and making sure they felt welcome at Cal. I’m not actually in the group, but my friends are so I was housing for the weekend. It was a really fun night, and the food was amazing.
